The Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) is a dynamic association of health professionals dedicated to promoting the appropriate use of antimicrobials. SIDP provides education, advocacy, and leadership in all aspects of the treatment of infectious diseases. SIDP is comprised of pharmacists and other health care professionals involved in patient care, research, teaching, drug development, and governmental regulation that are concerned with all facets of antimicrobial use, and committed to excellence in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy. CDC- Get Smart About Antibiotics Week, November 15-21, 2010

Get Smart about Antibiotics Week is an annual effort to coordinate the work of CDC’s Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work campaign, state-based appropriate antibiotic use campaigns, non-profit partners, and for-profit partners during a one week observance of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic use.

NFID/ Emory Clinical Vaccinology Course  

November 5-7, Hyatt Regency Bethesda, Bethesda Maryland

Sponsored by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases and the Emory Department of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases and the Emory Vaccine Center

The Clinical Vaccinology Course focuses on new developments and issues related to the use of vaccines.  Leading experts, including representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will discuss newly available vaccines and vaccines in the pipeline, as well as established vaccines whose continued administration is essential to improving disease prevention efforts.

The course is specifically designed for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, vaccine program administrators, and other health professionals involved with or interested in the clinical use of vaccines.  The course will also be of interest to health care professionals involved in the prevention and control of infectious diseases, such as Federal, state, and local public health officials.  Course participants should have a knowledge of or interest in vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.

SIDP Annual Meeting- 20th Anniversary Celebration

The Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 in Boston, MA. The meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Boston at One Avenue De LaFayette. The meeting will commence with the new member breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The lectures will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the networking reception/dinner and Past President Recognition starting at 5:00 p.m.  For a complete agenda please visit the SIDP website at www.sidp.org.

ISAP-Post ICAAC Symposium in Boston

Focused presentation of cutting-edge topics, and the resulting high-level discussion at our Post-ICAAC symposia, make this one of the most anticipated scientific PK/PD events of the year. This year's symposium will be in Boston on September 15th, 2-6 pm. Details will be posted on our website soon (http://www.isap.org/).
 
As in previous years, the symposium has two parts.


1. Research trends: this year’s focus is on recent PK/PD research and trends related to TB drugs.


2. Forum for Young Investigators: brief presentations on PK/PD topics related to TB drugs as well as other areas are eligible and encouraged for submission. 
Young Investigators - this is a unique opportunity for insightful and motivating feedback regarding your research.

The agenda provides time for discussion after each presentation. At the closing of the symposium, ISAP travel awards for the accepted Young Investigators' presentations will be granted. Young Investigators are those within 3 years of graduation or post-doc appointments.
