2019 SIDP Annual Meeting Abstract Submission Portal

The Programs Committee is excited to announce a call for abstracts for the 2019 Annual Meeting at the Washington DC Convention Center on October 1, 2019. There will be a one hour session at the Annual Meeting this year to highlight five research projects from SIDP members. Presenters will have eight minutes to present and four minutes for audience questions.

Submission and Review Process:

  • The submission window will open Thursday, June 27, 2019 and close on Monday, July 12, 2019.
  • All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the SIDP Programs Committee and scored based on: scientific merit, originality, and significance to infectious diseases
  • Authors will be notified by Monday, August 19, 2019.
  • Authors will need to submit slides and 1 assessment question by September 23, 2019.

Author Instructions:

  • Presenting author must be an SIDP member, with a limit of 1 submission per presenting author
  • Abstracts are eligible if they have been presented at MAD-ID 2019, submitted to ID Week 2019, or new original research
  • Abstracts that were selected for oral presentations at ID Week 2019 are ineligible.
  • Obtain approval in advance from all co-authors prior to placing their names on the abstract.

General Formatting Guidelines:

  • Abstracts should be no more than 1,950 characters. Figures, tables, title, authors, and spaces do not count against the 1,950 character limit.
  • Abstracts should be submitted as PDF (.pdf) or Word (.doc or .docx) files.
  • The following sections should be included in each abstract submission:  Title, Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Describe specific findings and analysis of data (“to be completed” is not acceptable).
  • All figures and tables (maximum of 4) should be included in submitted document after the abstract body.
  • Abstracts should be submitted to one of the following categories:
    • Clinical Infectious Diseases – examples include: antimicrobial stewardship, gram-positive infections, gram-negative infections, viral infections
    • Benchtop Research – examples include: pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, clinical microbiology
    • Special populations – examples include: transplant, HIV/AIDS, hematology/oncology, pediatrics
    • Healthcare Epidemiology – examples include: Clostridioides difficile infection, resistant pathogens, global health
