Description:

Peer review is a core safeguard of scholarly publishing, yet few clinicians receive formal training in how to do it well. This interactive session will equip clinicians with a structured, practical framework for performing high-quality peer review, with an emphasis on real-world application and critical evaluation skills. Participants will review a sample peer review, work through an applied manuscript exercise, and see how pharmacists and physicians each bring a complementary perspective to evaluating a manuscript’s clinical and pharmacotherapeutic relevance.

Agenda:
Following introductions, speakers will review the purpose of peer review in scholarly publishing and present a structured framework for evaluating a manuscript. Attendees will then critique a sample peer review and complete an applied manuscript exercise using audience polling. The session will end with attendee Q&A.

Target Audience:
An interprofessional audience, specifically pharmacists and physicians, practicing in infectious diseases and/or inpatient settings, including residents, fellows, and clinicians interested in scholarly activity.
