2021 SIDP Business Meeting and Lecture Series Abstract Submission Portal

The SIDP Programs Committee is excited to announce a call for abstracts for the 2021 SIDP Business Meeting and Lecture Series to be held virtually on Saturday, November 6th, 2021. There will be a one hour-long virtual session at the Annual Meeting this year to highlight four outstanding research projects from SIDP members. Presenters will have ten (10) minutes to present and five (5) minutes for audience questions. Abstracts may be original research or encore presentations from any professional meeting that has taken place in 2021 (e.g., IDWeek, MAD-ID, ECCMID, etc).

Submission and Review Process:

• The submission window will open on Monday, August 9, 2021 and close on Friday, September 3, 2021.
• All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the SIDP Programs Committee and scored based on: scientific merit, originality, and significance to infectious diseases
• Authors will be notified by Friday, September 17, 2021
• Authors will need to submit slides and 1 assessment question by Friday, October, 15 2021.

Author Instructions:

• Presenting author must be an SIDP member, with a limit of 1 submission per presenting author
• Only abstracts containing original research with results presented will be considered
• Obtain approval in advance from all co-authors prior to placing their names on the abstract.

General Formatting Guidelines:

• Abstracts should be no more than 1,950 characters. Figures, tables, title, authors, and spaces do not count against the 1,950 character limit.
• Abstracts should be submitted as PDF (.pdf) or Word (.doc or .docx) files.
• The following sections should be included in each abstract submission:  Title, Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Describe specific findings and analysis of data (“to be completed” is not acceptable).
• All figures and tables (maximum of 4) should be included in the submitted document after the abstract body.
• Abstracts should be submitted to one of the following categories:
• • Clinical Infectious Diseases – examples include: antimicrobial stewardship, gram-positive infections, gram-negative infections, fungal infections, viral infections
  • Benchtop Research – examples include: pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, clinical microbiology
  • Special populations – examples include: transplant, HIV/AIDS, hematology/oncology, pediatrics
  • Healthcare Epidemiology – examples include: Clostridioides difficile infection, resistant pathogens, global health
