Many pharmacists precept learners at various levels during infectious diseases clinical rotations. Ongoing preceptor development is essential to ensure they stay current with effective teaching strategies and can balance educational responsibilities with clinical duties. For those precepting residents in ASHP-accredited programs, participation in preceptor development is also a requirement.

In January 2025, SIDP hosted a webinar on layered learning in experiential education, which generated several follow-up questions from participants. This upcoming webinar aims to build on that interest by featuring panelists from diverse practice settings who will share practical strategies for precepting learners at different stages of training
