Program Research Specialist III (Data Analysis)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health or a related field and three years of experience in the collection and analysis of data; or a Master’s Degree in a related field and three years of such experience; or a Doctorate in the appropriate field and one year of such experience. 

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with HAI/AR surveillance, patient safety surveillance, data analysis/management, data validation, and reporting; developing reports, presenting, strong SAS/analysis technologies, and creative visualization of analyses for presentation to a broad range of audiences.

Responsibilities

The Program Research Specialist III will work within BHAI’s Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance and Response Program to manage, organize, monitor, and analyze data on antimicrobial use, antimicrobial stewardship activities, and antimicrobial resistance in healthcare settings. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and assessing available data sources (e.g. CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), Medicaid data, NYS All Payer Database) for use in analyses to monitor, track, and represent the landscape of antimicrobial use, support quality improvement activities to improve and promote antibiotic stewardship, and assess appropriate use of antibiotics across the healthcare spectrum. The incumbent will perform data analysis using statistical tools such as SAS to quantify antibiotic use and opportunities to improve appropriate use of antibiotics in healthcare facilities in New York State and develop data visualizations. The incumbent will assist with developing projects and on specific deliverables to meet funding requirements as they develop over time. Other related duties as assigned.
